I have to think this stands a good chance of going on, Chris. The focus, especially on the face and eyes, is excellent. The lighting and diagonal placement in the frame of both the monkey and the branch make the composition very pleasing. And the mouse adds so much interest. Great job.

Thanks, Ken! I think the mouse did escape... at least, being eaten. Poor thing could have died of fright... I read online that the monkeys eat fruits and flowers, and sometimes invertebrates... so the mouse should be safe.

Thanks, Susan. According to Wikipedia, these monkeys are vegetarians, so I'm sure the mouse avoided being eaten---whether it avoided a heart attack from panic is another matter!

I like everything about this capture, Chris, from the detail to the appealing expression in the monkey's eyes to the wonderful diagonal lines of the monkey's back and the branch behind him. It is my favorite of your August entries and I wish you luck with it. Also on my short list are Farmall Tractor (Chris P. just loved your desaturated selective color treatment here), Jefferson II (just beautiful and I wish you well with this new edit) and Parrot Portrait (love the full frame and bold colors). Such a thrill! This is by far my favorite animal image I've captured in 5 years of photography---and I rarely photograph animals to begin with. And I took this with my least-favorite lens, so I'm happy to perhaps re-evaluate my opinion of that lens!
