The first time I saw some of these were in ponds (tanks for you Texans) out in the middle of the Wichita mountains in OK. You captured this one beautifully Valarie. We rode the mules last spring over on the north side. Going down would be alright but going back up would put me out of the race for sure.

Over the weekend I saw a photo book with several shots of these, and I said (quietly to myself), "I've seen much better photos at BetterPhotos." This one should be on the cover, Valarie. What a beautiful diagonal composition, petal to petal-corner to corner. Love the black bg and faded green compliment, and especially the center of the flower focusing on the light. How appropriate for a lotus.
