35mm for Landscape/People I want a 35mm autofocus camera to take of landscape and people in the price range of under $400.00(US). Any advice in this area?

Yes, take a look at Canon's Rebel 2000 for a great beginner's SLR. This will not give you as much manual controls as you might like but it will give you serious options with lenses, fast autofocus, great auto modes for shooting people, and more. Also look into Nikon's N60 for a durable and flexible - but more complicated - SLR.
