Photoshop Plug-in, digital negatives & the Zones

I have learned and am continue learning about photography by following Ansel Adam's fundamental yet wonderfully artistic approaches. Now, I am venturing into the digital world via CD ROMs and Photoshop. John Schaefer's book has helped somewhat.

It is surpassing to me that I have not yet discovered a plug-in or program to accompany Photoshop which is designed exclusively around the zone system, could add selenium toning, simply adjust contrast and zones, in short do all things that can be done in the darkroom. Perhaps Photoshop can do this, but it is highly complicated and not designed specifically for it.

I am wondering if someone with the proper expertise could develop a program to do simple black and white darkroom functions so that us amateurs who don't have a year to learn the process can handle it. I know Brooks Jensen of Lenswork has done wonderful things with digital negatives. There is no question that a fairly simple program could be developed to do fine images like those in Lenswork so amateurs can convert to digital printing.

Does your organization or anyone else have any interest in this subject?
