Could it be the Sigma 80-300 Lense I have a canon elan 7. I bought a sigma 80-300 lense. The pictures I take with the orgianl 28-90 canon lense seem to come out good but when using my longer lense I got more blurred pictures. I'll have a problem with it focusing etc. Its on AF. I am new at this and just leaning. This is the one thing I noticed. I have taken sunsets with smaller and larger lense and I'll get grainy

Slight camera movements that occur when shooting handheld are exaggerated by long telephoto lenses. The rule of thumb for avoiding camera shake is to use a shutter speed at least as fast as 1/focal length. For example if you're zoomed to 300, your pictures are more likely to show blurriness from camera shake at shutter speeds longer than 1/250 sec. than they will if you use 1/250 or 1/500. Otherwise, if you are using slower shutter speeds you need to carefully brace yourself, or the best option is to use a tripod. To get appropriately fast shutter speeds with a 300 f/5.6 lens in lower lighting, like the sunsets you posted above, you may need to use faster film. If you were using ISO 100, try 400 instead, or go to 800 if the shutterspeed with 400 is still too slow.
