Canon 5D Mark ll - Noisy?? After many, many, months of saving, calculating and commiserating I have purchased a Canon 5D Mark ll. As soon as I had a fully charged battery I began experimenting with various lenses, the thing I have noticed is that it's extremely noisy and a bit sluggish when I press the shutter button. I don't know if this is characteristic of this model since it's a full frame sensor or is it an indication of a problem. When I first upgraded from my Rebel XTI to a Canon 50D I was amazed how fast and quiet the shutter was in comparison. Which has given me cause for concern in wondering if there is an issue with this camera. I'm also a little sensitive to purchasing new equipment, the last time I purchased my Canon 50D it was through Amazon, it was purchased as new, it came neatly packaged as a brand new camera, however, once I started shooting with it I noticed the image count was well over 8400. This time I purchased the Canon 5D through one of the highly recommended online photography sites. The other thing worth mentioning is it didn't have a protective seal on the LCD screen. I know I'm probably being a little paranoid here but if I'm spending this much money I want to know I'm getting a brand new piece of equipment.

I don't know about the button but you have to remember that you have a mirror and shutter curtain that are twice the size of the one in the 50D. So it may be a little louder. Also if you have a 70-200mm IS lens when the IS starts activating it sounds, in a quiet room, as if there is a construction crew inside. But it is only the IS doing its thing. After awhile you don't notice it. There are one or two other lenses that do the same thing but it is not obvious in most of the other lenses with IS.
