Photographing a star trail To whom it May Concern: I have seen recently some time exposures of the heavens. I have a Canon Elan-7 film camera and want to open up the lens in Bulb, and take a very long exposure. My concern is, can I leave the lens open for say 6 to 8 hours with the batteries installed. I have two lithium CR 123A 3volt batteries in the camera. Will they hold up for that period of time? Hope you can help. Respectfully, Charley Andrisano

I have done prolonged exposures with an Elan 7 and with lithium batteries a two hour exposure did not deplete usage on the batteries by much. I would think 6-8 hours should be doable but I would start with brand new batteries to be safe. Batteries that have been used for a while might not make it. Merry Christmas
