Why is camera storing dig. images in random order my digital point and shoot camera (or pro duo memory card?) is suddenly storing pictures in completely random order - so when I go back to view them and potentially delete unwanted images, they are out of order and difficult/time-consuming to locate. any thoughts on why this might be happening? thanks much!

I can only guess that it's similar to why ctrl-alt-delete makes the computer say "this program is not responding". Yeah, that's why I'm trying to restart it. Take the battery out and put it back in and see what happens.

When I first loaded my first 2 GIG Compact Flash Card into my Canon 30D, I noticed that it said I could take up to 567 JPEG images. As I shot, then downloaded, then edited and finally deleted files on the card, I noticed that when I checked, a deleted, but not reformatted card showed a smaller number of images possible. It seems that in the deletion process some data may be left behind. And, if you delete selected images with a shooting session, I guess it's possible that the camera tries to place an image in an available sector. Of course, one is reminded of the fragmentation we all face with our computers.
