flash for canon 20d ? I,m purchasing my first digital camera a canon 20d and would like to know if the off camera flash (quantaray qtb-7500a ) will work properly on the 20d ? I've been using it on my canon a2e and it works for that camera , also will all eos lens work on the 20d ? any help would be helpful as I don't want to damage the camera . overly cautious carl warren

I don't think so. I'm pretty sure the QDA-CAF module works only in traditional TTL flash exposure mode, metering off-the-film while the shutter is open. The EOS digital cameras like the 20D are not compatible with that system and require a flash that emulates E-TTL (pre-flash for metering before the shutter opens), or a simpler non-dedicated auto mode where the flash has its own metering sensor. You can cheaply change the base module to the QDA-C (~$14 + s&h). This will give you that non-dedicated auto mode, but it requires manually coordinating the ISO and lens aperture settings (ie. can be used in Av an M modes only). To get automatic flash in all exposure modes requires either a Canon EX-series speedlight (eg. 220EX, 430EX, ...), or similar E-TTL compatible such as Sigma EF 500 DG Super, Sunpak PZ40X II, several from Metz, etc.

Any EOS lens should work with the 20D. There have been some compatibility issues with some older Sigma brand lenses and newer Canon digitals, though.
