Ignore them. You can search for stock photo sites, shutterfly, smugmug, ifp3. When people send you links, it is often not legit.

I'd ignore most soliciting offers. A great way to sell is through Dreamstime.com. I've been doing it for a while now, and sales are really picking up.

Hi Kathy, Thanks for the kind comment. What I actually forgot to mention is that according to an article in PDN, Dreamstime.com is the fastest growing agency, and the one that pays the most of the microstock. I have a link to the article on my site here: Hakimata.com. Good luck in your quest!

Before you join any stock agency, make sure you read the contract carefully. For instance, some agencies are exclusive and some aren't. Also, check out the different types of licenses, etc. You want to make sure you know what you're agreeing to. Best of luck to you.

Thanks for the word of caution.

For http://www.dreamstime.com it's optional to be exclusive. When you decide to be exclusive you get a higher pay.

Hi Kathy, I think you have to take unsolicited links with a grain of salt, but if you can discern something about the poster of a link, then you can judge if you want to investigate further. I submit to about 8 agencies (about all I have time for with a full time profession) and from my point of view would not go exclusive with any one agency... it is simply leaving too much money on the table. The experience of most photographers who submit to the microsites say that going exclusive with any one agency does not pay. It may certainly make your work easier (not having to upload to 'x' number of agencies), but it does NOT pay more in the long run. Some photographers come to like the a particular agency for whatever reason (ease of uploading, the forum community), but I can't see how this makes one bit of difference to a buyer. If your photograph is there, it's available to download and you get a sale, if you don't submit, you can't earn money. Simple as that to me. I do highly recommend Shutterstock...they are fair, and even though they don't pay the highest per download, you can't argue that they tend to be the numberone REAL money earner for the photographers that submit to the microsites. I have many photos that have earned hundreds of dollars... so the quarters and dollars (you get $20 for an Extended License download!). Too bad BetterPhoto doesn't have a microstock agency, because there are so many talented photographers here! From ~270 photos, I have currently earned $12,953.66 and counting... Check out Shutterstock! Many of the photos on my BetterPhoto website are earning money everyday... make that 24/7! Good luck,
