travelling with cmeras

I frequently travel to Africa (Botswana) and India for animal safaris. I run into increasing problems carrying my camera eqipment as handluggage. (2 Canon 20D, 1x 70-300, 1x 10-22, 1x 400mm DO plus the usual stuff around it. What is your experience bringing photo eqipment as checked luggage??

Depends on the "problems" in particular. Maybe all you need is a carnet to help you out, at least at customs. http://www.uscib.org/index.php?documentID=1843

As far as security, I've got a carry-on camera duffel that fits the scanner portals and then stows beneath my seat. If there's film in the bag, I can easily remove it for manual inspection in the U.S. My experience is that I never have a problem domestically or internationally, but never been to Africa or India.
