ethics and permission I took a photo a few years ago while traveling of a mother and son in a remote Asian village. I got verbal permission to take the photo, but as I'm not a professional did not get anything beyond that. I put it in my portfolio because thought this fit under the category of acceptable personal/educational uses. Someone saw my photo online and asked to use it in a Mother's Day display for a store. Obviously, I can't sell the photo as I don't have written permission. But is it ethical to give it to the store owner to display? Neither of us is recieving any direct monetary gain from it, however, it is obviously recieving much more exposure than ordinarily think fits under the personal/educational category. Please help because I don't know anyone else to ask!
