Slad scanning I am scanning slides with a Nikon Coolscan V. I mostly use Velvia 50 or 100. I am seeing what looks like grain in the photo after scanning. Is this noise? Is there something in the scanning process I can do to prevent this? I am using Microsoft Digital Imaging software after using the Nikon scanning software. Is the problem with this software?

Man, what a typo. It should say Slide scanning.

Can you post a few examples? I scan Fuji slides with a Coolscan 4000 and might be able to help if I saw your results. Bob

Thanks Bob,I noticed last night that it shows up only after saving to the Microsoft Digital Imaging software. It does not show on the picture directly from the Coolscan software. I am able to remove it with the Remove Noise filter. I don't have any now that have not been fixed. I will save one for you to see when I scan some new slides. I am still curious why it is doing this. I bought the Microsoft Digoital Imaging software because I had read that it was good and it was a good buy. I may have to spend the bucks for Photoshop. Are the less expensive versions of Photoshop any better than what I am using?
