Camera Repair - Nikon F80

I accidently dropped my Nikon F80, while it was encassed, and the camera now has an error reading every time I press the shutter release. There is a small gap that shows up in the view finder between the lens and the camera frame. When I take off the lens nothings looks broken so I am having a hard time figuring out where the damage is as there is obviously some damage.

I will be taking the camera in for repair once I am back from travel, but if anyone can advise if this is serious damage and offer any tips on what to do in terms of repair, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Raman

Beyond saying that it could be anything from the internal focusing mechanism being knocked out of whack to internal electronic damage, I wouldn't even begin to speculate on what could be wrong.

When you get back, take the camera and lens to what you believe is a competent repair shop and have it thoroughly checked for mechanical and electrical problems. I'm sure they'll be pleased to give you a written estimate of any repairs necessary to put the camera and/or lens back to working order.
Take it light.
