Dishonest online store bestpricecameras.com This is not a question, it's a warning. Do not go with Bestpricecameras.com. What they basically do is try hustle you into agreeing to a deal that is different than the order you made. 2 days after ordering a Nikon D50 camera kit, I receive a email saying crypticly that my order was on hold until a confirmation by phone. I left a message that was not returned and reached them the next day to be told that the camera doesn't come with a battery and I needed to choose a battery for the camera (low hundred $ or high hundred $ was the choice I had to pick from). This was bringing their prices higher than Amazon. When I said that this was not specified on the website and is very unusual for such a camera, the saleperson said that all D50s are sold like that and he knows cause he just bought 3 for the holidays. This smelled like a big lie to me. So I said I was going to call right back and then the guy became pushy and aggresive telling me that he can't keep the order on hold forever. This was too obvious of a scam so I asked him to cancel the order. He was now pretty rude and said that he was going to go ahead and charge "the cancellation fees". When I called this dishonest and said I was refusing to pay whatever charge, he tried to make me feel like the bad guy and finally passed me to a "manager" who rushed me with a barrage of bull at 200mph without letting me finish half a sentence then hung up. I guess you got the idea. Bestpricecameras.com Don't do it.

Whatever you get charged, you can always contest. My Bank (I use a bank card) is pretty good and fast at it as I have done it before. After the "bestpricecameras.com incident" I check out the web about them and found I very useful site for anyone who buys stuff online- resselerratings.com It's very thourough and precise as bestpricecameras ratings are down the drain followed by a huge number of variation on the theme of the experience I got as their reviews. Should've known about that site before.

You dealt with the kind of place that sells what comes boxed with the camera separately as their sceme.

Exactly, and from what I have now read if you tell 'em just ship it without the battery or whatever they want to take away from it, they'll just put you on the eternal back order list until you freak out and then they'll charge you 10% cancellation fee. Real nice people! They should be arrested be arrested.

Thanks for the warning Daniel, and for the Ressellerrratings.com site; I've bookmarked it since I shop online a lot.

Hey Daniel: Take the law into your own jaw. Drop a note to the consumer protection unit of the state attorney general's office where they're doing biz and send a copy to the county D.A. They actually do something with complaints about unreputable /dishonest merchants. Well, eventually. Mark

I am filling a complaint today with The NY Attorney General. bestpricecameras also go/went by the name of infinitiphoto and jandkcameras. Something similar but way more abusive happended to somebody recently doing business with priceritephoto aka c&a marketing and thecameramall. His story is allover the consumer blogs right now. Interestingly enough both companies are based in Brooklyn.

Some of the most disreputable stores are located in NYC but so is the most reputable - B&H Photo. Their advertised prices may not be a cheap as some of those mentioned above but you do get what is packaged from the manufacturer - and quickly too.

I think what they are selling is a "grey" market camera. They usually come from Japan, and everything is in Japanese. Also like mentioned before, they don't include any accessories the manufactuer's do. I ordered my F828 from one of these people, and they gave me the run around for a few weeks, then we found out that it was a "grey" market camera and canceled our order. They didn't try and threaten us with a cancellation fee though. So finally we just went and bought if from Inkleys.

Daniel, sorry to hear about that. I've dealt with Bestpricecameras.com and had to cancel my order due to the worst runaround in world history. They almost took $3,000.00 from me! Needless to say, I'm never doing business with them again.

That's what they do, they give you a runaround until you agree to a bad deal. It's the Bait and Switch scam.
