Canon Digital Rebel Question

Hello,

I have the Canon Digital Rebel and I was wondering if anyone knew of a hot shoe that can be used to attach a sync cord to studio flash set-ups. Also, what are the typical shutter speed setting ranges for using studio flashes? Right now I'm just using the sensors on the flashes themselves to trigger the flash with the external flash on my camera. I've noticed that some of my shots don't seem to capture the flash from the studio set-up. The studio flashes do trigger, but I don't see the effect in the photo. Please help!

Jeff

You cannot use optical slaves with the Digital Rebel's built-in flash. It functions in E-TTL and so fires a low-powered pre-flash before the shutter opens for metering, then the main flash fires after the shutter opens. The pre-flash sets off your studio strobes before the shutter opens.

You can get a sync cord adapter that fits in the Digital Rebel's hotshoe. Get one that shields the camera against the high trigger voltages, for example the Wein Safe-Sync.
