LENSES


I WAS WONDERING ON A GOOD LENSES FOR A CANON ELAN 7E SLR. I LIKE LANDSCAPES AND WAS WANTING TO BUY A GOOD ALL AROUND LENSES THAT WOULD TAKE A 1.4 OR 2X CONVERTER AND NOT LOSE TOO MUCH. OR MAYBE JUST A 400 TO 500MM LENSES ANY ADVICE........NOT LOOKING ON TOO MUCH MONEY AT THIS POINT STILL LEARNING WHAT I'M DOING OR NOT DOING.....THANKS

  I like the 35mm semi-wide for landscapes. I can shoot at small apertures if I want foreground detail like flowers to appear sharp as well as the background. The EF 35mm f2 is highly regarded.

You may also need to select parts of your scene, in situations where you cannot walk in closer. For that, I'd recommend the EF 85mm f1.8 or the 100mm f2. You can always pop on a 2x extender if you must have more reach.

Long teles of over about 200mm are special purpose lenses that have special problems of their own.
