Joseph, metering is simply setting the correct exposure for the scene you want to photograph. You allow the camera to meter when you shoot auto or program mode. If you shoot in Av or other manual mode. you can control the metering. Metering involves three things: Aperature, shutter speed, and ISO setting. Read your camera manual and experiment. You probably won't get it right at first. Don't get discouraged; just keep on improving your shots by being in charge of the exposure (metering). VR John
