Photography Question

Lens on Fuji 3800 won't open

Can anyone help? When I turn the camera on it makes the usual sound but then makes it over and over and the viewfinder is black. I took out the batteries and let it set, put them back in butit didn't help. Batteries test fine. The menu function works ok and I can see pictures I have taken, but when I switch it to take a picture it just makes the same noise over and over.

hey margie had the same problem after my cam set for a few months...after searching and getting answers like its too expensive to fix I decided... to be quite frank... wtf....so I grabbed each side and pounded it on the table....not hard....kinda medium hard....guess what....its be workin ever since....i figured it was gonna work or be a paper weight because I had read it was too expensive to repair.....good luck...ps I make sure at least once a week I at least turn it on and off.

Thanks Dave. I changed the batteries and things worked ok. I guess my old tester isn't working properly anymore. Apparently the batteries had enough juice left to work a little bit - but thanks. I'll keep your trick in mind - it may come in handy yet. p.s. if you have a Fuji - they fix a fuji camera - no matter what is wrong for a maximum $99.00.
