Using Studio Equipment

I am using the Canon Rebel Digital Camera and have the Novatron strobe lighting equipment. I am having trouble getting my lighting to fire with the camera. I have done a test fire on the lighing and it works. I checked the synk cord and the hot shoe. They are on properly. Can anyone help me with this? I don't know what else to do. I have called the people that sold it to me and have not gotten any help.

Have you tried contacting Canon? I know there is some issues with using standard studio strobes such as Novatron with some digital camera models. You may also have a sync connection problem. You state you are using your hot shoe, so I presume that you have an adaptor in the hot shoe to accept the PC cord. Part of this system may be malfunctioning.
But first check with Canon. If it's a problem with adaptability, there may be nothing else you can do.
Novatron's current models are all digital-ready, so there shouldn't be a problem there if you have new lighting.
FYI - I shoot with a Fuji S2 (Nikon) using Novatron strobes, and have never had any problems (knock on wood).

THANK YOU FOR THE INFORMATION. I DID CONTACT CANON BY EMAIL AND THEY SAID THEY DO NOT HELP WITH THIRD PARTY EQUIPMENT. ALSO I CONTACTED WOLF CAMERA WITH NO HELP FROM THEM. I WILL CALL THEM AGAIN TO SEE IF MAY THE CORD AND HOT SHOE IS WRONG. ANY MORE SUBJESTION WOULD BE APPRECIATED. I PURCHASED THIS LIGHTING EQUIPMENT AROUND 4 - 5 MONTHS AGO.

If you purchased your lights 4-5 months ago (AND PRESUMING YOU PURCHASED THEM NEW), the Novatrons should be digital ready. I would look into your sync cord and hot shoe adaptor, and also the camera for error.
Can you take your camera, cord, and adaptor back to where you bought the lights? Let them try to figure it out.
It's sad when you have different brands like this, and each tries to pawn the problem off on the other. You, as a consumer suffer, not them. I've been there before too - recently with my Mac, Photoshop, and Epson - none wanted to accept any responsibility, and said it was the other's problem!

Could be the little pin inside the male tip of the sync cord isn't touching the insides of the female tip of the outlet. Many times it needs to be bent slightly. There's even a tool made for doing that, but I use the pointed end of a can/bottle opener.
