guide to touching up digital images Hey there, I'm a beginner at digital photography. I wish to know if there are any sites that I can visit to learn how to touch up digital images. I do have photoshop 7.0 but I don't know how to use it. Some of the things that I like to do are like softening the image, sharpening it, change the background and try different lighting effect. Can this be done with photoshop or is there any other simpler software that are for beginners like me? Thanks a lot.

I've heard that a book called Photoshop for Digital Photographers by Scott Kelby is fantastic. A couple of the top contest photographers have recommended it to me. Hope that helps. Nancy

The book by Kelby is awesome, very easy to understand and lots of pictures. The followup to that book, "Down and Dirty Tricks" by Kelby is also very good. Bob

There are programs that are easier to use than Photoshop, but if you already have PS, why not learn to use it? There are lots of books on it, and Kelby's book that Nancy mentions above is a good place to start.

Hey there guys, thanks for the info. Will definetely scout around for that book. I did try to check on the help menu but my version of PS but the help topics were incomplete. Thanks again.

Kelby's book is fantastic, but only if you don't need your hand held all the way, For example he will tell you how to do something in "Levels" but won't tell you where to find "Levels" as he will expect you to already know. So if you are handy at finding your way around a new program, then get this book it is fantastic! I have been able to do all my special effects because of this book! If you really don't know where to start, get something that will "hold your hand for a while" and once you have an understanding of PS, then get Kelby's book Although expensive best AUS$80 I ever spent!
