Photography Question

Susan Bohanon

Any way to fix this photo?

I took this shot.
Cropped in real tight.
The shot was underexposed so I had to lighten in PS.
I then changed it to black and white.
When I changed it to B/W is when the distortion on the mother's face showed up.

Is there anything to do to fix this?

Any help would be appreciated!!

Thank you!

How did you lighten in PS? If you post the original I'll take a screen shot and see if it will lighten in my power retouche filter which can preserve detail a bit more.

I would start over and see if it would make a difference. I would try to change the photo to black and white before you crop or adjust any other things. Then, try to adjust the brightness and contrast by equal amounts until you get a desired look you like. Make sure that you are not working on this doc and saving over and over in JPEG this might have caused the grain to deteriorate. Just a thought.

Maybe adjust your curves and posibly add a distort filter. Are some other thoughts.

Set your blacks with levels and the eye drop. Something that far off, don't think it's going to ever look too good.
