Exposure & Flash Compensation I am using a Canon EOS 50e and I noticed that as well as there is an exposure compensation control, there is also a flash compensation control. I love taking night shots with nice lighted outdoor background light with flash sync. Sometimes I get great shots out of it. But sometimes when I try to concentrate on the background light as my exposure setting, my subject becomes over or under exposed. Is this where the flash compensation is called for? How do I compensate using both?

I've found the explanation at Bob Atkins website to be very helpful in understanding flash exposure and the EOS Elan IIe (50e). A short general introduction can also be found at Kodak's site.
