Photography Question

Scanning negatives

Hi, this may seem like a silly question, but I've read a lot about scanning negatives/slides onto the computer/CD, etc. Once you scan them, can you print it out at home? And how does the finished product look?

Thank you.

Usually you can use the image editing program that comes with the scanner or the software that comes with the printer to print out the image. For printing photos, it is better to use a "photo" printer. Hope this helps.

Hi Andy, thanks it does make sense. What is the best "photo" printer to get then? I have my eye on the "Epson Stylus Photo RX600." It is expensive but is the best one I have seen so far. Is there another, better, but cheaper option?

Thank you again.

Christa, I think the photo printers nowadays are all very good. I am using a Canon S9000. That was the only affordable printer I can get to print up to 13x19 borderless print at that time. I am no printer expert. The only advice I can give you is to get a printer with individual ink tank. So when one ink runs out, you only need to replace that ink. Sorry I can't help you much in choosing a printer.
