tamron compatibility with d70

I got a Tamron sp af 300/f2.8 LD-IF (for Nikon)

I’d like to Buy a Nikon D 70 ,but yesterday when I tried to shoot with a camera of a friend of mine with my lens . I noticed that the mirror doesn’t come back down until I disconnect the lens.

Also the autofocus doesn't work.

If somebody knows anything about that ,please let me know.
