Question on Use of Flash

I am shooting indoors at night. My question is if I already have setup the correct aperture and shutter speed and the meter suggests that it will be exposed properly, do I still need to fire the flash? If I used the flash will it overexposed the picture, help please! I am just confused on proper exposure and its relationship to flash.

Are you using the meter in the camera or a separate one? If the flash is on the camera, it is probably fine to use it. The best way to know anything is to experiment. Write down what you did for each picture so when you get the pictures back you will have a description as to what you did for each photo. Trial and error is the way. I dont know how you can take a picture indoors in low light using a typical 200-400 film, not use a flash and get good results. Please respond - maybe I can help.
