Selinium Toner

I am about to selinium tone my final images for my end of year submission for bachelor of design, and have been recommended by my tutor to use this. I have 16 images, 20x24", 8 are darker 8 are lighter, so am to use this to get consistency throughout the sequence. How effective is this toner?
Is bleach necessary? Or just on the darker prints?
I am using fibre base paper.

  Gaelene,
I have recently learned toning, and I find it is wonderful. One of the benefits of toning is the archival enhancement it gives to the print. The effect for selenium is not as noticeable as sepia tone. It will give the dark areas of the print a black that is purplish (like an eggplant). I found that it helps to have your prints slightly lighter (less contrast) before toning. Bleach is not necessary; however MAKE sure your prints have been thoroughly washed; any fixer left on the prints will show up after toning. Good luck!

Larry
