The Favorites I Love It Button I hadn't been active on BP for a while, and I noticed there is now a heart shaped button when each single image is viewed. I have hit this button several times for others photographs, so they would be in my Photo Shows for later. My question is this: Is there a way to discover who has clicked the "I Love It" button on my photographs?

If you go to "My Photos", you will see a link to that says something like "My images others love".

Oh - that will only tell you the photos. It does not tell you who.

Thanks for responding, Pat. Unless someone knows of a way, I guess it is suppose to be amonymous. If someone clicks the favorite button, and then immediately comments---or vie versa---I can usually tell by the time stamps on the BP notifications. But, it seems I get a lot of "hit-and-run"s. ;-)

Cary, I don't think there's a way to know who hit's the "love it" link. And there's a "love it" link next to each forum post. I just clicked "Love it" next to your last one so you'll probably get an e-mail from BP saying some kind soul loved your comment, but I don't think they say the comment came from me.

Hey, KEN! Thanks for responding. And you are indeed correct. I'd forgotten about the heart buttons for comments (forum and photo comments). Apparently there are a lot of kind souls spreading the love around. ;-) I'm sure there is a way that BP could record who clicked a heart---but they must want to keep it all anonymous. I just didn't know if others knew how to find out (or if they could)---I've been gone from the site for several years.

What throws me off - though I've finally figured it out - is the way the heart overlays the image making it look as if the photographer has a big problem in the upper right corner. I even wrote one member privately to tell her of the problem on her image and she took a look. Then she wrote back to say she saw no problem in Lightroom with her image and could I please send a screen shot to her. When I went to get the screen shot, I finally realized that the glaring error was just a portion of the heart lying over the image. Now that I know, it's no problem though it continues to give me a momentary start.

I am not clear as to why the I Love It button has numbers in red and grayed out. Can someone clarify that for me? Thank you. Margaret

When my cursor is not in the upper right, the heart is dark gray on black background and no numbers can be seen. I think that's so that it's less obtrusive. When I move my cursor up over the heart, it turns red and shows how many total have marked the image a favorite. Now that I look, it's only when an image is horizontal AND extra wide that the heart is over part of the image. I don't know for sure, but that may also be related to the new 1200 pixel width allowed for uploads.

Thanks Nikki for your input. I guess my confusion also pertained to the display of images if you look at Contest entries, displayed by Most Loved. The majority show red numbers but some have gray numbers to the side as well. The sorting appears to be by highest red numbers in descending order. Not important, I was just curious.

When I view contest entries by most loved, I see the number of favorites in red and the number of comments in blue. Is that what you mean?

I know what you mean Margaret. I have a gray heart on a photo it will not allow someone to love it. I don't know why it is gray unless it's pulled from the contest??????

I did not intend to make this a big issue but it is confusing. I just looked at my photos and regardless as to whether they are horizontal or vertical you see both red numbers or grayed out numbers. It is not keeping me awake at night, I just like to understand what I am seeing. Thanks again for shedding some light on this Nikki.

So where exactly are you when you are looking? I ask so that I can look at mine the same way and hopefully see the problem.

Nikki, this time I went into my photos that others love.

Okay. I went to My Photos Others Love (first time I'd ever been there - or even noticed the category LOL) and I still see the same thing. A gray heart in the upper right corner with no numbers at all showing UNTIL I move my cursor up to that corner when the heart turn red and numbers show up (8 others love this photo - or something like that). Sorry. I simply cannot see what you guys are seeing. I am on a PC, using Mozilla Firefox. Not sure whether the device or browser might have something to do with the display?

Nikki, I also noticed that there is an overlap of photos and the heart, which there did not used to be. I've always uploaded my images 1024 on longest side and we never used to get this issue. If you are saying that BP has changed to allow larger photos, what are they allowing now? Sounds like his change broke his screen 'look and feel'. It also means that he could be making my photos larger than I submitted.

I misspoke, Cindy, and unfortunately the forum format does not permit me to go back and edit. Sorry. I was changed from a maximum display size of 800 on the long side to 1000 on the long side, so if you are uploading at 1000 on the long side, you should be fine. I don't think BP has ever upsized images. I still upload at 800 on the long side and I think mine look fine.

Very new to BP, so not sure how everything works yet. I received a notification that someone marked one of my photos as a favourite. When I went to find out who it was I hit the "heart" button and inadvertently marked my own photo as a favourite. This was not my intention. Can I take it back? Further to the previous discussion, now my photo has a grey heart, not a red one. Does this mean I am disqualified from the contest? Thanks.

Not to worry, Sheila. I think that the fact that when you hit the heart again, it went gray means you removed the favorite you added accidentally. BUT absolutely do not worry about it either way. Favorites mean nothing in terms of the contest AND lots of people favorite their own images. Lots do not, too. Either way. And if you have entered the image in the contest, it's in - unless you delete the image from your gallery. Welcome to BetterPhoto. More questions? Ask away - someone will invariably provide at least an opinion :)

Oh, and the only way you can know who favorited your image is if they choose to comment, too, AND say they favorited it when they do so.
