Portrait photography of Children
Recently I photographed a friend of mine's child for his year pictures. I have a part time studio in my basement with two 500 watt continuous lights and a 250 watt mini boom. I had one of the lights bounced of an umbrella. I have a hard time getting a fast enough shutter speed to film a child (due to their movement). I got all my pictures back and they were correctly exposed, but were slightly fuzzy, due to the slight movements of the child. I used the aperture priority mode and the fastest shutter speed it gave me was 1/60. I tried the shutter priority and when I tried to use a faster shutter speed, the aperture blinked. What am I doing wrong? Do I not have enough lighting? I need some advice, I'm taking another child's pictures in two weeks. Thanks!

You need one or more of the following - (a) faster film
(b) use fill flash
(c) more light
(d) a faster (larger aperture) lens
