Pixelated Images on Digital Frame The latest images I put on my digital frame are badly pixelated. The image sizes are around 1800x1200, 300 ppi. KB size is between 400-1900; so I'm sure the size is not the problem. I have several other images on there that are of the same resolutions. I did try to open them up in different programs, i.e., Windows Photo Gallery, and Microsoft Picture Manager as well as Lightroom & Adobe Bridge and the images looked fine. I did try to open them up in Quicktime's Picture Viewer & it said the images were corrupted & wouldn't open. I can't figure out what the problem is. The only difference I can figure out is I did some editing on some of them in Topaz PhotoFX & Topaz Adjust. That's the special effects filters similar to the NIK Software Filters. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas as to what could be the problem & how to resolve?

Perhaps you saved them slightly differently than your usual work? Such as another file format, or perhaps a different JPG method, accidentally? Or else, maybe they jumped in bit-depth, from 8 to 16 or 16 to 8? Can you take the original files, unedited, and just save them down (without Topaz stuff) to 1800x1200 and see if they pixelate?

I started over from the originals. I put them in Photoshop CS5 (No Topaz), then resized them down to 1800x1200. They looked fine until I put them on the digital frame. Still the same issue. Could it be the digital frame itself? The older images on it still look good though. Or do you think my CF Card may need replacing? Could it be within Photoshop? Could it even be my camera? It's a Canon 30D. It may be time for me to start looking for a new one.

I seriously doubt your camera is contributing to the problem at all. Nor is it probably the chip, I'd guess---if other images on it are fine. Most likely it is the frame, coupled perhaps with a change in the file format somehow, for your newer files, that the frame cannot handle/process correctly. One you resize the image down, have you scrutinized the "File...Save As" dialog box, to make sure there are no funny, unexpected settings? Like Progressive Scan JPG, or some low-quality setting? If you still have the manual on the frame, see if it lists specs on what kind of files are accepted... I still think you've probably inadvertently changed something in the Save As steps, that renders the file "unreadable" properly to the frame.

You were right, Christopher! Problem solved. It was in my Save As, JPEG Options Diaglog box in the Format Options. It had inadvertently been switched to Progressive instead of Baseline. I Googled the explanations of these options & it says Progressive causes images to be downloaded gradually, getting clearer as it downloads. Evidently with my digital frame, that's what it was trying to do and the slideshow transitions were slowing down from 5 seconds to about 15 seconds or longer. It was unable to completely download before the transition. Thanks so much for your help.
