Nikon 2020 Hello I recently bought the Nikon 2020 and I had a few questions. First off it's fully manual, no automatic focus lenses. What I was wondering was about the aperture settings and shutter speed. Looking through the lens I notice that there's the shutter speed and the aperture. Am I to get the aperture as close to the shutter speed before I click the button? I have no manual for this camera so I'm just guessing with the first few rolls of film. No camera shops around us so I looked online for a forum. Any help would be great! Thanks! Steve

??? I'm pretty sure the N2020 was an autofocus camera (though an early version and very slow), and had auto exposure modes. http://www.nikonlinks.com/unklbil/n2020.htm Perhaps you have the manual focus version, the N2000 http://www.nikonlinks.com/unklbil/n2000.htm, or do you mean you only have manual focus lenses for it? Google for sites where you can buy the user manual, but it might be easier to find the Magic Lantern guide, "Nikon Classic Cameras, Vol. II" which covers the F2, FM, EM, FG, N2000, N2020, and EL series cameras.

Yes it is the autofocus body with manual lenses. Trying to figure out the camera and I wish I had a manual. What is the Magic Lantern Guide about? Thanks for the links. Steve

Dear Steve: I agree with Jon about seeking out the Magic Lantern Guide. It's a small softcover book that could slip into a coat pocket, and will describe the N2020 features, but also touch on topics that are not mentioned in an owner's manual. As such, it is a hybrid reference, part owner's manual, part 35mm photography guide. You might find the N2020 owner's manual on ebay, too.

The N2020 was the first autofocus camera Nikon produced, so your lenses should focus in AF mode, assuming you have AF lenses. You'll see somewhere on your camera's top area a dial with PSAM, or some configuration of those 4 letters. They stand for Program, Shutter priority, Aperture priority, and Manual. If you are as new as you sound, set the camera to P, and it will do everything for you automatically. You can learn about the others as you go along. Michael H. Cothran

Hi Michael, The lenses are all manual, this was what I was looking for when I bought the camera. My other cameras are manual and this is what I like in a camera. Steve
