beach photography
I'll be purchasing my first SLR camera soon. I'd like advice on how to take pictures at the beach without blacking out the people I'm shooting.

If by "blacking out", you mean you are getting silhouettes,..you can meter off the background, and use flash to illuminate them. Or,...(if your beach is positioned in such a way to permit this),...put the sun BEHIND you, and at a low angle when you are shooting.

Thanks for responding Bob. I should've stated in my initial question that I'm learning photography as well. I'm not quite sure what you mean by "metering off" the background. Thanks
