Photography Question

What kind of lens to buy for my camera

I have a Nikomat camera that I got at a garage sale. It didn't come with a manual, but it came with a "Rokinon Auto Zoom Super Coated 1:4.5 f=80-200mm No. 909369" lens. How do I find out what kind of lens it is (AI, AIS, AF) and what kind of 50mm Nikon lens should I buy?

*The number on the Nikomat camera is "FT2 5402652"

Please help! Thank you,
Katie

See http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/nikkormat/index.htm for a good source of information on Nikkormats, including descriptions and instructions for your model FT2.

The FT2 is a "pre-AI" body, and can use pre-AI, AI, and AI-S lenses. Later Series E and AF lenses will work in "stop-down metering." AF G-series lenses will mount, but there is no way to control the aperture. I don't recognize "Rokinon" as a Nikon brand name, it is probably a third party make. If it is "pre-AI" (made prior to 1977), it will not mount to Nikon cameras introduced after 1977 without conversion to AI. This link shows the identifying characteristics of pre-AI, AI, and AI-S lenses: http://rick_oleson.tripod.com/index-153.html. The next two links show the Nikon camera and lens compatibilities: http://www.nikonlinks.com/unklbil/bodylens.htm, http://www.nikonians.org/html/resources/nikon_articles/other/compatibility.html.
