Simply put, the answer is "No." Digital Canon, not 'Cannon', bodies will only accept EOS-mount lenses. If your lenses are older 'FD' lenses, they will not mount as-is. That said, I'm sure there is an EOS-to-FD adapter available somewhere, but even if it was worth the price (which I doubt), the old lenses would probably NOT activate the DSLR's metering system, and they might not be capable of focusing to infinity. If your intent is to update to a current model Canon DSLR, you're better off buying new or used EOS lenses. In fact, many of the consumer level Canon DSLR's come as a package or 'kit' with a decent EOS zoom. A much better way to go than trying to mount your older lenses. FYI - If you had older Nikon lenses wanting to mount to newer Nikon DSLR's, it would be a different story altogether, since, in many cases, they DO work well together. But, in the Canon line, they completely changed the lens mount with the introduction of the EOS cameras. One last thing - when you ask "...would a...older slr work on a digital slr"?, I just don't know what you mean here.

Some corrections... Agree that the FD lens to EOS body adapters are rarely worth the bother, but the cameras will meter with the old lenses (in Av and M modes), and the adapters usually retain infinity focus - though the required optical correting elements necessarily act as x1.26 teleconverter with corresponding two thirds stop decrease in maximum aperture and marginal loss of contrast and sharpness. With respect to Nikon, the professional models (D1-, D2-, D200) will meter with the the old AI manual lenses in either Av or M modes, but the D100, D70, and D50 will not. Older pre-AI lenses cannot be mounted.
