D10 want adjust past 60 speed

My D10 will not focus past 60 speed, even with the 2.8 lense on! I am truly the Point and Shoot poster child! I'm frustrated!

We need a little more detail. What mode are you in, and what are you really trying to do?

If you are in one of the Basic auto modes, and using your flash, then yes, the camera usually will stay on 1/60.

That's the problem...it doesn't matter what mode! I usually shoot the sports mode, but I tried all including manual(which I know nothing about anyways!) It also doesn't matter what lense! When I shoot the sports mode w/ 550 flash it never goes that slow...ever!

  Vikki,
I have the EOS Digital Rebel. From what I understand, the program modes of my camera are very similar to yours.

If you are in any of the basic auto modes, if you turn on your flash, the camera will try to use 1/60 shutter speed. Sports mode will always try to use a faster shutter speed, but is not really designed to use a flash.

Take your camera out in bright sunlight, without the flash attached, and put it in auto (green box) or P mode. If it still won't adjust the shutter speed faster than 1/60, then there is something wrong with it. Your firmware might be corrupted.
