lighting Please help me on this one. I have a set of britek PS 200H studio strobes. They have tungsten lights I believe because the light is yellow. My problem is when I shoot my camera my strobes are supposed to go off when I have them on slave mode. I fire my flash and they also fire, but the photos come out way too dark. I want to add some lighting effects to the photo using this ligths but it seems to take them away. When I shoot with the light in modeling mode I get nothing lighting effects and yellow lighting. What can I do about this and what is the best lighting for portrait photography.

under exposing, or your flash has that pre flash for red eye reduction/ttl metering, and it's making the strobes go off right before the picture is actually taken. Try it with a sync cord for a direct connection one britek. Portrait lighting can be one light bounce or diffused, a spot light, or several lights. No one way that's best. Just best for how you want a picture to look. Start with one, get familiar with that. Then use the other for a highlight or add to background and get familiar with using two. You can take a nice portrait with just one light bounced off a foamboard or wall, umbrella/softbox, or shot thru a 30x30 square of nylon. But you may be looking for a different feel. It all depends on what you're after.
