What is a Dedicated Flash

Thank you for your response. So it sounds like I would need to use a Non-dedicated Flash. I like to shoot everything with manual.

A "dedicated" flash is designed to be used with a certain camera or series of cameras. It and the camera have similar electronics that will only work in TTL modes when coupled together.
BUT!....most Dedicated flashes can also be used as a Non-dedicated flash in Manual mode OR Auto mode (non-TTL auto) on any camera with a hot shoe mount.

To add to what Michael said, buy the dedicated flash and use it any way you wish.
