Self-repair of Metz 60CT1 flash i have two Metz 60CT1 flashes and now being too old are firing full light instead of computer control light control (light control circuit is defective). Can anyone repaired/replaced with other circuit himself instead of sending to Metz Werke because it is not economical to invest being old flashes. Comments/advice will be appreciated. m.s.Gill

I recently had the same problem on my ct601, being unable to step down its power, always firing full power- useless in sliding the power down- sent to metz service centre in singapore-problem is with the flash capacitor. Only Metz has the original parts. It's not worth to send to other than Metz, if u value your flash. I tried sending once.I was charged $200 sing dollars for full fash bulb replacement and capacitor but it is really worth it since the metz is a fine photographic instrument. My advice, use your flash frequently or fire a few burst every few days to avoid this problem. It's built for heavy duty everday use. The more u use it the better. I underused it when I got my Sb 28 for my nikon. Hope this help u. This is not a new problem for the metz 60ct1.

Hi Karim: Thanks for the reply and advice. May I know it was repaired in Singapore or sent to Metz Werke Germany. My Metzs are quite used and looking for its parts which control the light (light intensity control circuit) and no alternate is available and before investing will think it is wise/unwise as technology is changing rapidly and digital is coming fastly. gill
