How to engrave names on photos I was just wondering how you actually go about placing your name on your work? Is this done during the processing or is it engraved somehow? I see people's signatures on their pictures and always wondered how they got it on there.

Most likely they do this with a photo editing program such as Photoshop.

One way is to get a hot press foil transfer. It's like a soldering iron. You must get your name or logo made into a metal press, sort of like a rubber stamp. This is then heated. you use a type of foil sheet (available in gold, silver, metallic colors, etc). You lay this foil on the photo then press the foil with the hot iron. This transferrs your logo to the print in shiny gold. The effect is impressive. I suppose you can try a rubber stamp with metallic modelers paints. Maybe someone makes a special metallic ink. You ought to talk to a local office supply store on this idea.

With digital use use the text tool in Photoshop. With film the lab (usually a pro-lab) can make a lith for you. Its a clear acatate with the wording and is overlaid on the negative at the time of printing. This is used commonly for wallets in senior portraits.
