Festival Photography - How Much To Charge? Hello. I'm not entirely new to photography of course, having shot informal pictures for friends, family and fun for years. I set up my own web page to display my local band photography, and have had some excellent feedback on these shots. I work with both film and digital equipment, but recently got my hands on an Olympus OM-1 with various lenses that I'm extremely pleased with. Anyway, my problem is that, though I've been attracting commissions, I have no idea what to charge people for my services. Mainly, I'm concerned about what kind of fee I should ask for a job like this... I was recently contacted by the organiser of a local festival who wants extensive work done, including: "Pictures from the whole duration the gig; taking a vast amount of both the band as a whole, and of individual members during the first 2/3 songs for each act. Shots of the crowd. From both in the crowd, and just of random people who want pictures - hanging out between acts. Shots of the venue before the crowd arrive. Both inside and out. A few shots of the bands and the others involved, during soundchecking." These shots would have to be available to the promoter for their site and for future publication. Help! Bearing in mind my equipment and my basic gig experience, what should I be charging for an event like this? I'd really appreciate your feedback! cheers.
