Cannot be answered based on having a meter and Koachrome 64. "Best" aperture depends on the particular lens used, how you want the depth of field rendered v. shutter speed to stop/show motion, and the amount of light available.

The aperture you set depends on what you want from your photo. A wide aperture, like f2.8, will result, especially focusing up close, in only a small part of the depth of your picture being in focus.

A small aperture, like f16, will result in much more of your image, from front to back, being in focus.

I encourage you to learn to use Kodachrome 64. It reacts to light much like digital. Underexposure on slide film will look the same as underexposure when shooting digital.

When you can get properly exposed images using slide film, you are well on your way to learning exposure.

My web site may be of some help to you.
