Press passes are normally issued by newpapers, magazines, and/or other sources of news media. In other words, you either have to work for one of these entities, or have some pre-agreed connections as a freelancer. In order to pass most security lines, the press pass has to be issued from a source recognized and accepted by the event.

In the situation you mentioned, Jose, especially in a larger city like Tampa, Miami, Chicago, New York, L.A., etc., you would not only need media credentials issued by a legitimate news source, but also a police / fire pass because they control who gets to cross the lines and barricades and who doesn't.

And by the way, while you can spend money trying to buy a "press pass" like from some outfits, but they're essentially meaningless without credentials issued by media firms.
Take it light.
Mark
