I too was looking at that particular flash meter a while back but haven't had the chance to get it yet. You say that you're looking for a meter to trigger the strobes...I believe this meter will be great and give you an exact measurement to give a good exposure. I haven't used this meter but another that I used allowed you to set it on a sort of "standby" mode that will detect any flash of light in the area and give you a reading so you won't have to have it teathered to the flash. The only problem is that you'll need another way to set of the flash if you don't have a sync cord plugged into the meter. So, it will set off the strobes if you have it plugged in but I don't think it will set them off without using something else to trigger the flash if you don't have it plugged in. I hope this makes sense and helps you out a little. Andrew

Minolta does that too. hook up the syc to the pc outlet. Or set it to read when a flash goes off.(that's the non-cord). You push the button, put it where the you want to take a reading, and go back to your strobe and fire it with the test button.
