Flashes

Was wondering if you could tell me what type/brand of flash I could purchase to go with my Vivitar V3800N SLR. Thanks

  Go with a simple non-dedicated auto flash, like the Sunpak 383 Super. The Vivitar V3800N cannot use TTL-flash exposure control or flashes dedicated to autofocus cameras.

  Hi Terry;

Welcome to BP.

There are many extremely good flashes that will work with your camera. The question is, how much you are willing to spend. Another good question is how many different lenses you have and what the main use for camera will be.

Vivitar makes several flash units that will serve you well. Sunpak makes very good flash units. The list is endless.

Promaster makes a line of flashes that can grow with your outfit. Kalimar had a unit out in the mid ninties that was incredible that sold for about fifty dollars. I saw one on ebay the other day selling for 25.00 (buy it now).

I would suggest going to a camera shop and talk to them about your specific needs. Take your camera so they can see what you have. Have them help you make an informed decision.

Have fun and keep shooting,
Mark H.
