HELP ME!!! IM A BEGINNER!!! I love to take pictures, and I am very interested in becomming a photographer. Maybe not so much as a professional photographer, but at least a good one. I already take tons of pictures outside. I love to take pictures of people and nature. Ok...so here's my problem: I don't know anything about the whole technical side of photography. All I know is that I have a camera(35mm Minolta-no detatchable flash), I have good film, and I take good pictures. I would like to start taking pictures using backdrops that I paint myself(I alos love to paint). I don't know what I need to do to take good pictures and not have a shadow??? What kind of equipment do I need??? I can't afford a lot of fancy stuff...I'm getting married in three months and I have a wedding to pay for and I need to save some money...So my question is...Is there anything I can do to take a good backdrop picture & not have to buy a lot of equipment???

Amber, okay so I am in no ways a professional here. I just recently started taking pictures using simple backdrops. All of my pictures were taken using natural light. So if you have a room that gets a good amount of light you could try that. I have seen some excellent portraits from many other BP members that have used just natural light. I take most of my portraits in mid to late morning when the light is a bit softer. Hope this helps. I am sure you will get a lot more help from other members! :) Julie
