Photography Question

traveling

I will be traveling to Africa in a couple of days. This will be my first time on a plane! I know high speed film can not go through the X-ray machine but not sure about speeds like 200 and 400. I think to be on the safe side I will not put it through.
My question is can my Nikon FM10 go through the X-ray machine?
Any help would be great!

God Bless,
Elizabeth

Good luck on your Africa trip. Regarding Xray--I travel with 400 ISO film all the time and have never had a problem with hand carried stuff. This is so for North America, Central America, South America, Asia, Europe for sure. It's been a number of years (at least 7 or 8) since I flew into Africa, but I imagine the Xray facilities are similar to most of the third world. I expect you'll be fine.

I have noticed though over the last year travelling through America signs up in at least one airport warning customers of putting film in checked luggage. Obviously they've upped the Xray strength on the checked bags. I didn't see it until my stuff was in, and so far I haven't had a problem with the 10 rolls of unexposed 400 that were in there. Might just be luck. I'd just hand carry it if I were you.
