Photography Question

Formal Business Plans

I am writing a business plan for an equine photography business for a college course. I was wondering if any of you had written business plans? What did you put in them and how did you decide what to include?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Gee Sara, if this wasn't a college assignment, I'd be glad to help. But I've always been a firm believer that one should do their own school work unless they really really get stuck. So if you're that stuck:

Does your college have a library? It's the building on campus with the kind of musty smell, women behind a counter, who, have their hair up in buns and wear orthopedic shoes. Oh and lots of shelves with books on them. Books are those things with pages bound between two covers and lots of printing inside. Any fundamental college textbook on business administration should cover the basics of that subject.

OR...if your school has completely done away with it's library and torn it down to build a parking lot, try talking to an SBA or other loan officer at a local bank and getting the fundamental guidelines from them. Look at the application for an SBA loan.
Take it light. ;>)

Lol I'm quite familiar with the college library. I may have even been mistaken for a book because I've spent so much time there ;).

I don't know about your college library, but our's is distinctly lacking in real world professional photographers. There is nothing like experience. Since I don't have any experience at running a photography business, I figured I would ask people who do. Our professor thinks that shows initiative to ask professionals and it does build our networking skills.

I think I will ask the bank for a loan application though.

Thanks,
Sara

  Sara,

Send me your email address, I will send you several business proforma(s) done in Excel. They cover income and expenses for a one-hour photofinishing business. Many a businessman and student have used my stuff and got loans and A's.
