session fee sales tax? If you do a wedding and you have a creation fee. Do you have to charge sales tax over the creation fee? And with a portrait session sales tax over the session fee?

It varies. Check with your local/state government. Some states don't have sales tax, some assess only on physical goods (ie. photos, album), some apply to services provided or gross receipts.

Hi Mary. While you're checking on the tax issue, get a business license, liability insurance, register your business name with the county recorder, start paying business property taxes, and also get a federal tax number unless you decide to pay quarterly self-employment and social security taxes under your own social security number. :>) But then, you probably knew all this stuff...Yes???
