Digital Rights Management I wondering how other photographers feel about anyone being able to copy their online images by using the screen print keys, then pasting them into photoshop? I think some of mine were copied that way. sunny j.

I always worry about others downloading my image and then using it as there own. I am curently trying to set up a store online with my images but am trying to find the right way to protect them. I read somewhere here on BP that it had been done through someone at flickr, but they were only able to use the image online they could not print it. Is this true?

Generally when a picture is copied that way, the quality isn't good enough for printing, a least not very big, but it can be posted online well enough. I put a copyright on all the pictures I post on this site as an extra measure of safety.

Being a programmer. I know there is javascript code that prevents one from right clicking in general mostly for preventing them from "save image as". I am sure there is code to put on your personal website that stops them from Print Screen (PrtScn). You could also put your images inside a table and use it as the table's background. Coding your website in asp or just a slideshow in ajavascript or a slideshow in Quicktime or Flash could hide the source code from the people so they dont even have an idea where the images are located on your hosting. You could use watermarks, a rollover image or even put something over your image like a white gif file and hide it somehow so that when they go to click and save the image, they in fact save the white gif file. I am not too sure about how to protect images when they are posted to other websites however...
