Pre-cut mats

Looking for a good source (not expensive) to buy pre-cut single and double mats. Mostly I use white/white, 11x14 for 8x10, and 16x20 for 11x14.

  A.C. Moore or Michael's.

Or, you could buy a mat cutter [Alto @ about $90.00] and cut them yourself.

Mat board 4.95 amd 11.75 each for a 32X40 sheet - you get six 11X14 or 12X16 sheets.

The major problem with commercially available cutouts is that the image size is very limite, usually 8X10 [for 11X14 an 12X16] That's why I have the Alto system. I framed posters and prints to 32X40 as well as my photos.

  To John,
What area are you from in the country? Micheal's? I too, cut my own, (we all did in college 25 years ago.) Our local Micheal's is way over priced, terrible selection of board, custom framing that takes better than a week no matter what.
Does yours have archival, museum quality stock? As you can tell I am not encouraged with the local one here. Of course they are the most convenient. What is an A.C. Moore? I have sources now, however, always on the hunt for quality, cheaper.(oxymoron):)
In the Midwest.
Dave

Just to clarify. Documounts (1-800-769-5639)will cut your opening to any size and just about any shape. The breaks start at 8 of an item. The catalog is layed out to show the most archival mats first, then down to the cheapest. (And they send signifiers so that one can see the actual mat colors and textures.) They also sell frames, plexi, etc.

Excellent site Fax! Most Thankful for the source. I will give them a shot. Need to check and make sure they are cheaper after shipping, etc. Probably been six months since I costed this out.
Thanks again. I hope Jim is getting some answers from this, it was his question.

  Mahalo for the thanks Dave.

I usually pay 31% for shipping -- but that's what I get for living on a rock in the middle of the ocean.

however -- Kona no ka oi!
